Composer
Mark Bunce, recording engineer/technician
for the MidAmerican Center for Contemporary Music and director of
Recording Services at the College of Musical Arts at Bowling Green State
University, holds a bachelor's degree from Olivet College and a master's
degree in composition from BGSU. He is also a part-time Instructor for
the College of Musical Arts, teaching Recording Techniques, a position
he has held from 1987 to 1993 and 1998 to the present. He has
been involved professionally in recording for over 30 years, and with
over 50 commercial releases to his credit has recorded and edited for
such labels as Opus One, Koch Discover International, Newport Classics,
Centaur Records, Orion, Albany, Sony Classics, Neuma, Vox, Nine Winds
Records, Titanic Records, Equalibrium, AMP Recording and Capstone. He
has also engineered more than 90 contemporary music programs for public
radio.
As a composer, his composition Waterwings, for
saxophone and interactive computer, has been performed in Canada,
Australia, Italy, Greece and the United States. Other compositions have
been featured on the BGSU New Music & Art Festival, as well as
performances in Great Britain. He has composed theme music and
soundtracks for several programs at WBGU including: theme song for the
WBGU-TV weekly sports program "Time Out," theme song for the WBGU-TV
program featuring concerts from the College of Musical Arts Encore
Series and soundtracks for two documentaries "Baseball in Japan" and
"The 1934 Electric Auto-Lite Strike". He also composed soundtracks for
numerous industrial video projects including a series on security for
the business traveler "Look Out!" and "Drugs, Take Notice!". "Look Out!"
won a Golden Cassette award, an international award in media
communication excellence .
Bunce also serves as a MIDI and
technology consultant for many composers and performers
